Assyrtiko de Louros 2012 – a unicorn wine from Santorini

Assyrtiko de Louros is made from more than 100-year old ungrafted, organically grown vines in the volcanic soils of Santorini. Haridimos Hatzidakis, a leading producer of the island, keeps pushing the Assyrtiko potential further and Louros is simply staggering. Deep gold in colour, with seductive oriental spices, dried apricot and peach notes and appetising flavours of honeyed and roasted almonds and walnuts. Unique mouthfeel with really rich texture but also tantalising vibrancy and mineral freshness with a great tannic structure and a long finish. Its seductive profile is a result of a 12-hour skin contact prior to fermentation and the maturation of the wine in old barrels for 24 months. An outstanding wine with unicorn status as less than 500 bottles were made at the second vintage of its production. If you find it, snap it immediately!

  1. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be really one thing that I think I would never understand. It kind of feels too complex and very huge for me. I’m taking a look ahead to your subsequent submit, I’ll try to get the hold of it!

  2. Thanks for another magnificent post. Where else could anybody get that kind of information in such an ideal means of writing? I have a presentation subsequent week, and I am at the search for such information.

    1. Hi Alex, thank you for your kind comment and I am sorry for the delayed reply! I hope your presentation went well – were you talking about Assyrtiko and Greek wines? What type of information are you after? Best,
