Otto’s Athens Vermouth: The urban Mediterranean aperitif is back

London was boiling last week. It was wonderfully hot (as it should be during the Summer months) but, in all honesty, it was a bit much! 30°C is not the average temperature around here, so we were caught a bit off-guard! However, I wouldn’t change a thing! I love London, and when it’s hot like … More Otto’s Athens Vermouth: The urban Mediterranean aperitif is back

Assyrtiko de Louros 2012 – a unicorn wine from Santorini

Assyrtiko de Louros is made from more than 100-year old ungrafted, organically grown vines in the volcanic soils of Santorini. Haridimos Hatzidakis, a leading producer of the island, keeps pushing the Assyrtiko potential further and Louros is simply staggering. Santorini Wines are unique and make my heart beat faster. Literally. Assyrtiko is the absolute star of … More Santorini Wine: Gavalas Natural Ferment Assyrtiko

Tsililis Dark Cave – an aged Tsipouro worth seeking out!

Drinking Tsipouro brings a salty, iodine-like flavour to my lips but this is not part of its flavour profile. It derives from my memories; salty hair, sun-kissed cheeks and a summery carelessness. My mum says that she likes drinking tsipouro only to indulge the first gulp of an ice cold beer in the summer.
I tried Dark Cave by Tsililis for the first time at Vogatsikou 3, Best Cocktail Bar in Greece as awarded by the FnL Awards, and it was absolutely stunning.
Such a rich nose full of ripe figs and glazed grapes with walnut and almond notes followed by a velvety, tongue hugging mouthfeel. … More Tsililis Dark Cave – an aged Tsipouro worth seeking out!
