Instagram it!

It was an incredible day and was properly celebrated with Louis Roederer Rosé 2005, which was mind-blowing! I like to see every birthday as a personal New Year, so here are my resolutions below: 1. Don’t worry about anything that you wouldn’t remember in your deathbed as long as you are not causing pain to anyone. People may have too much time in their hands and want to act unpleasant. Don’t care about those people. Help them if you think they can become better or ignore them if they don’t want to change. 2. Always be kind and share your smile even in the most difficult of days! I trick my mind into feeling happier by listening to dance music and thinking of the happiest things in my life 3. Talk to yourself like your lover would talk to you. Soothe yourself, be sweet and look at you with admiration. 4. Keep helping whoever and whenever you can. Many people don’t like to use their time and energy for others but are really good at absorbing all the energy out of their companions. Don’t be an energy vampire! 5. 🎶Love is all you need. 🎵And health. And family and friends. And cheese. And bread. And wine. And Champagne! 🍾🥂 #champagne #champagnelover #finechampagne #vintagechampagne #rosechampagne #louisroederer #champagnelouisroederer #wine #winelover #brunello #castigliondelbosco #birthdaychampagne #birthdaywine #birthdaycake #winelover #redwine #wine #wineoclock #winenight #winetime
In times of trouble, may people find it easy to identify the problems and very few realise that some can just be opportunities. In the late 1800s France started experiencing the devastating effects of a Phylloxera (tiny little pest that lives on and eats the roots of the vines) attack and by the 1900s 70% of the French vines were destroyed! The majority of the Guebwiller vineyard was completely abandoned but Ernest Schlumberger bought the first 40ha of land on this Grand Cru mountain and started tending the plots individually with the help of the women of Guebwiller. 🌋 Here, I am standing in front of Kitterle which the locals call “calf breaker” - if you look closely you’ll see that it has a gradient of up to 50o! The vines are grown on a volcanic, sandstone soil giving intensely concentrated fruit - this is where my favourite Riesling comes from! 🏖Then we went to Kessler GC, a famous site that has been first mentioned in 1394 and the wine made here was marketed under its name since 1830! The plot grows on sandstone and is carefully sheltered by the neighboring forest that keeps away cold winds and allows the grapes to ripen fully to make supremely delicious, luscious wines. 🌲 In the last photo you can see us posing happily in the impressive, old cellar after having tasting all current vintages. That wooden table is incredibly long and is half the bark of a very old tree that came down in the family Villa Schlumberger! In that garden you can find tunnels, the base of a planetarium many other historical curiosities! Séverine opened her home to us, baked us incredible tarte flambée (I’ll give the recipe a try!) and organised an all-cheese dinner paired with Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer from GC Kessler! Absolute heaven! Thank you Séverine @domainesschlumberger for such an unforgettable visit! 🔷 #wine #wines #winelover #Winecountry #Alsace #DrinkAlsace #Alsatianwine #Riesling #PinotGris #Gewurztraminer #effidrinksAlsace #wineoclock #vineyard #vines #winecellar #GrandCru #alsacetourisme #visitalsace #whitewine #wineblogger #sommelier #wsetdiploma #winetasting #winetour #winetourism #Frenchwine #wsetglobal #domainesschlumberger #defender
“Great wine requires a mad man to grow the vine, a wise man to watch over it, a lucid poet to make it, and a lover to drink it.”, Dalvador Dalí. Could I even call my role, a job, when I enjoy it that much? Today, I was so lucky to listen to Cecilia Leoneschi, winemaker of @castigliondelbosco and @primapietra , and taste her incredibly elegant and bursting with energy wines! She is one of the most elegant forces of nature I have ever met and every single time I see her I fill my notepad and my head with such amazing new knowledge that it’s difficult to collect from just reading books. ❇️ Altitude: Own of Cecilia’s most important quality factors is altitude. Main advantages is the length of sunhours and the quality of the light. Excellent freshness, good stress for the vine to enhance complexity and great physiological ripeness ❇️ Water supply and roof development: when you are on a flat land the first 40-50cm of the root system are strongly influenced by the weather. If there is enough water, the vine won’t develop its root system so you end up with shallow roots making the grower even more exposed to the weather. If the vines have extended their roots, hot and arid Montalcino summers won’t be as challenging, as the plant will still be able to find water ❇️ Replanting: average age of the vineyard is 20 years with some of the oldest vines being around 40yo. Cecilia insists on replanting by hand and only works with 3-5ha per year so that they have better control and understanding of its plot and keeping the average age of the vineyard constant. A great inspiration for all women winemakers! Thank you @cecilialeoneschi for coming all the way from Italy for this @harrods masterclass! 2019 harvest will start a little bit later than usual, so we were extra lucky to have you with us! • #wine #winelover #winelovers #wines #Italy #Italianwine #Brunello #Montalcino #brunellodimontalcino #CastigliondelBosco #Sangiovese #redwine #wineoclock #winetasting #masterclass #harrods #harrodswine #winegram #instawine #wineblogger #wein #vinho #vin #κρασί #effidrinksItalianwine

On Cephalonia, the Ionian island known for its breathtaking views and unspoiled beaches, @sclavoswines grow the Italian-sounding grape Robola and make sure to make the island more famous for its stunning wines. Evriviadis called it Vino di Sasso (wine of the stone) quite rightly because of the barren limestone soils it grows on according to homodynamic techniques- the Italian approach to biodynamics. I am always overly excited and nervous in equal measures when I suggest a more out of the ordinary wine to my friends and even though the first few sips might create feelings of curiosity rather than instant satisfaction, I am always so happy to hear my friends say: can we have one more bottle? Or I would certainly drink it again! Evriviadis Sclavos has created a cult wine that can go quickly out of stock, even though Robola as a grape can easily give high yields. Next to zero interventions while the wine is vinified by wild yeasts giving expressive but not aggressive aromas of orange and lemon blossom, white peach and apricot underlined by a distinctive dried herbal bouquet and stony minerality. The finishing touch of salinity really elevates the wine and its generous mouthfeel with a charming grippiness make it an excellent pairing to a variety of dishes, including even red meat! @tomavroprovato was possibly the only restaurant I visited in Athens with such a thoughtfully curated and exciting wine list and such knowledgeable staff! And the food was superb, too! #effidrinksgreekwine #wine #winelover #greekwine #drinkGreekwine #Greece #Athens #cultwine #sclavoswines #evriviadissclavos #roboladecephalonie #winecountry #winedinner #winetasting #sommelierwine #wineblogger #wineexpert #winery #cephalonia #cephaloniawine #discoverGreece #wineoclock #instawine #winegram #κρασί #Wein #vinho #vin #vino #athensrestaurants
